Northwood College for Girls is an independent, academically selective day school for approximately 880 girls aged 3-18.  Located in North West London, most of our pupils come from professional or business backgrounds with a wide catchment area which encompasses parts of the North London, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex community.

The school is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust and offers:

The role:

Northwood College has a great opportunity available for a Textiles Teacher to join our leading academic day school and to be part of an exceptionally creative, warm and supportive community.  We are looking for candidates who have the drive and motivation to contribute to the development of our growing department.

The ability to teach Textiles: Art and Design at GCSE and A Level is essential.

The Department:
In Textiles pupils develop creative and practical techniques and technical knowledge preparing them to participate in a world of rapidly changing creative arts and technologies. They learn to be creative and imaginative in solving problems, developing invaluable life skills. At both GCSE and A level we follow the Art and Design: Textile Design AQA Examination Board. Year on year grades have been outstanding in this subject.

NWC Senior School Classroom Teacher Job Description

The role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic graduate teacher to join a popular and dynamic department.  The successful candidate will be required to teach A Level Psychology to pupils in Years 12 and 13. The Teacher of Psychology will need to be dynamic and enthusiastic, with a flair for creativity.  

The Department:
Psychology is taught at A level only, following the AQA Specification A syllabus. It is an extremely popular subject at A Level with our students, and is well-established within the Sixth Form.  The department consists of two members of staff – the Head of Psychology and an additional teacher.  All of our students are enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Academic standards in Psychology are high, with most students expected to achieve A* – C in the A level examinations. However, within the selective intake the ability range of Psychology students is broad and the Department has a strong focus on the monitoring and tracking process to ensure there is support for students to achieve the highest grades of which they are capable. The department is well resourced and facilities include interactive whiteboards, educational DVDs, interactive resource booklets and the development of the Psychology intranet.

EYFS Teaching Assistant

Contract term: Full-time (term time only)
Hours: 36 hours per week for full time
Salary: GDST Support Staff Pay Grade 3

The role:

Northwood College Junior School are seeking a full-time and a part-time enthusiastic, caring and committed, qualified Teaching Assistant to play a complementary and supporting role in encouraging our EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils in their learning and the acquisition of skills. This provides a wonderful opportunity to join our outstanding and inclusive team (ISI Inspection 2021) at NWC. We are a forward thinking, well established yet growing school who value our staff and the contribution they make to the educational experience for our pupils.

We would welcome applications from those with experience in either EYFS, KS1 and KS2 candidates and are keen to attract a wide range of candidates from both the state and independent sector. This approach is in line with our authentic inclusive approach as a school. Those who may not have worked directly in a school but have also worked in other Early Years settings are encouraged to apply.

Candidates need to hold NVQ Level 3 or NNEB qualifications or the equivalent. Commitment to the wider school life is expected. NWC require one full-time teaching assistant working 36 hours per week and another part-time teaching assistant working 3 or 4 days per week (21.6 or 28.8 hours). Please specify on your cover letter whether you are looking for full or part-time working.
