Young Professional’s Conference

Young Professional’s Conference Brief Review

On 12th November, I attended the Young Professional’s Conference. It provided me with original perspectives and real-world insights on a breadth of different topics such as tackling job interviews, apprenticeships, and university applications. I listened to some incredible speakers from all walks of life, namely people from the RAF, HSBC, and Vodafone. They presented many useful tips on how to get ahead in their respective industries and also discussed what’s on the horizon for their professions and what can be done to succeed and thrive in it.

Theoretical knowledge gained during school and university is invaluable, but it can only go so far to prepare a person for working in their trade. Through work experience and apprenticeships, one can gain first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of their job and gain the advantage of learning about new initiatives within the sector.

During the talks, I connected with many different mentors and advisors through social media; this networking, as I learnt, will aid me to increase my visibility with senior management in the future, and develop my soft skills.

Finally, to sum up this brief review, it is for all the reasons above that I found the Young Professional’s Conference a valuable experience and an excellent learning opportunity which, I’m sure, will help guide me in my decision making in the coming years.
