You are a Shining Star Ruhi!

I would like to take this opportunity to commend one of our Year 7 girls for her community work. Ruhi Misra in Year 7 dedicates much of her spare time to play the piano for residents in a local care home for the elderly. Ruhi is a shining example of the wonderful impact that acts of charity and kindness can have on individuals lives andreflects the generous and charitable ethos of our  school. Well done Ruhi.

Mrs Rees, Head of Year 7

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to hazelwood care home, as I believe music is the key to the soul, and brings hope, joy, exultation and rapture altogether, and unites us as one, no matter what the circumstances are, whether mentally or physically impaired. I have played for many people with both mental and physical disabilities, and for some, the presence of music ringing within their ears is somewhat soothing; hence I decided I would play the piano for them. It is also scientifically proven that people with mental impairments, such as dementia, benefit from music as it helps restore their memories, in a slow but steady process. It was an overall remarkable experience, playing in a different atmosphere with a different audience and it is one to be cherished.
