Year 8 Latin trip to Museum of London

On Tuesday Year 8 travelled down to the Museum of London for a day learning about Roman London. Girls undertake a Roman Britain project during their Year 8 Latin lessons and this trip provided a strong foundation for their research. We had the chance to explore the Roman Gallery to get a sense of what life was like for those living in 1st Century AD London.

The girls examined the tools and equipment they used for clothing, glassware and even advanced lock and key systems. They got to see how the Roman food, religion and leisure activities have all had an impact on today’s society. Everyone had a chance to handle some authentic Roman artifacts in an archaeological session and also produced some inspiring speeches in character as Queen Boudica and her army. Overall the day provided girls with a unique opportunity to observe and understand a time in our capital’s history.
