Year 1 Learn about Life Cycles and Growth

Year One have been busy in Science learning about life cycles and growth.

On a chilly day in March, Year One planted peas in a small pot. Exactly 12 weeks later, we have harvested and eaten our peas!

The girls commented on how sweet they were. Even the children who declared, before we tried the peas, that they didn’t like peas, enjoyed the succulent mange-tout pods. Well Done to Riea for Thinking Flexibly and trying something new! It certainly was an exercise in patience. We also wove our Maths in to the exercise by measuring the peas. We worked out how many days it took, by counting on with the Numicon 7+7+7+7+7+7+7+7+7+7+7+7 = 84. This is great preparation for learning the tables in Year Two.

More marvellous memorable Outdoor Learning – a great tonic for all the girls, enjoying Science and Maths in the great outdoors.
