Thomas Franks’ Beyond Education – Being Human

Our amazing caterers Thomas Franks are hosting a charitable social enterprise course focusing on nutrition, cookery and marketing and communications. Each pupil will recieve a ‘Thomas Franks Certificate’ incorporating: Royal Society for Public Health Level One or Level Two Award in Nutrition for Health, Food Safety Training.

Our objectives are to; educate pupils in food and nutrition teaching them to cook healthy quality food, whilst dealing with child obesity and helping to eradicate food poverty.

Online and face to face weekly cookery lessons for 10 weeks, leading to pupils producing a set amount of food each week, as boxed whole chilled meals.

These meals would then be distributed to the local community and charities to help eradicate food poverty, whether it’s to families, the homeless etc.

This week the Sixth Form girls have produced over 100 meals ready for collection by charities within the local community. We are so proud that NWC is part of this important initiative. Great to see happy, industrious girls, learning, working together and making a difference in our local community.
