Outdoor Explorers

This week the Reception girls have been braving the cold in order to look for animal footprints. In class we discovered animals have different feet and so make different prints.

We compared the footprints of animals with hooves, paws and webbed feet. Despite searching the school field and surrounding area we did not see any footprints. However, we did spot some holes that look like they were dug by badgers or foxes and a ‘hoof’ like splat of white paint (maybe from Santa’s reindeer?).

We used twigs, leaves and wood to make our own footprints and just enjoyed looking at the way Winter changes the landscape with bare trees and brown plants.

We are all really looking forward to Spring!
