Northwood College for Girls celebrate an excellent set of GCSE examination results

Students, staff, and parents alike had the opportunity to celebrate for the second time in eight days this morning, when we received a set of fantastic GCSE examination results. Rebecca Brown, said: “I am delighted to see so many happy faces this morning; our Year 11 cohort has always stunned and inspired us with their creativity, dedication, energy and drive. These brilliant young women have created innovative leadership initiatives, which have influenced and generated change; they have mastered the power of persuasion with exemplary public speaking and presentation skills; and they have all demonstrated resilience, character, and a true sense of adventure during numerous school expeditions and excursions.”

Charlotte (above), who achieved ten grade 9s plus an A grade in Further Mathematics, is set to study History, English Literature, Latin and Music at A Level. Charlotte said: “I am absolutely overjoyed with my results and so thrilled that my hard work and dedication has paid off. This wouldn’t have been remotely possible without my wonderful teachers, to whom I owe so much. Northwood College has shaped me into the person I am today, and I am incredibly grateful.”

Further highlights of the year for Charlotte have included winning best delegate prize at the Model United Nations and performing in a host of musical concerts and events. Charlotte aims to study History with English Literature at university, before embarking on a career in Corporate Law.

 

Deaana (above), who achieved nine grade 9s, one grade 8 plus an A grade in Further Mathematics, is set to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Deanna said: “I am absolutely thrilled and cannot express how grateful I am to my family and teachers for their constant support and encouragement. I cannot wait to continue my NWC journey into the Sixth Form. Another major highlight this year for me was to receive my DofE Gold Award.”  Deaana’s aim is to study a Maths and Chemistry Degree at university.”

Deanna’s mum added: “My special thanks go out to the NWC family in their commendable support throughout my daughter’s educational journey.”

Keira (above), who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7, and is set to study Geography, Classical Civilisation and Spanish at A Level, said: “I am over the moon with my results and so thrilled that all the hard work has paid off. I am so so grateful to all my teachers for the endless support and for helping me achieve my very best.” Keira is considering a career in media/journalism and aims to study Classics at university.

Ishaa (above), who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7, is set to study Politics, Psychology and Economics at A Level. Ishaa said: “I really want to thank all my teachers for supporting me and for all their encouragement.” A further highlight of Ishaa’s year at Northwood College has been participating in debating competitions which has supported her life-long dream to study Law at university.

Laila (above), who achieved four grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 7, is set to study Physics, Maths, Computer Science and Geography at A Level, and said: “I was really nervous before opening my results, but I am so proud of what I have achieved. I want to thank all my brilliant teachers who have supported me so well.”  Laila is thinking of studying engineering at university as she would like to pursue a career in Motor Sports.

Amira (above), who achieved three grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6 and is set to study Psychology, Biology, Chemistry and RPE at A Level. Amira said: “I feel so grateful to all my teachers and supporters, and I am elated that all my hard work has paid off. I am beyond excited to continue my journey here at Northwood and see what the future has in store! I have had a great year at school with highlights that include achieving the silver Duke of Edinburgh award and a Silver Maths Award.”

Amira’s mum added: “We are so thrilled with Amira’s results and so thankful to all the staff at Northwood for their wonderful support throughout the year.” Amira is an aspiring medic and aims to study medicine at UCL to fulfil her lifelong dream of becoming a general surgeon.

Sara (above), who achieved three grade 9s, three grade 8s, three grade 7s and one grade 6, and is set to study Physics, Mathematics, Politics and Economics at A Level. Sara said: “Today has demonstrated that hard work, determination, and commitment can reap rewards. Also, without the support available at school, and from my family this would not have been possible. I am grateful to my parents and my teachers for being there for me as part of my academic journey.” Year 11 has also seen Sara thoroughly enjoy performing in various orchestra and drama productions.

Zara (above), who achieved five grade 8s, two grade 7s and two grade 6s is set to study Psychology, Biology, Business and PE at A Level. Zara said: “I feel extremely happy with my results, and I am very grateful to my teachers who have helped me so much every step of the way. It has been a very busy year and I am also proud of representing my brilliant school at many sports events, such as Girls Go Gold, which involved 26 different schools. In the long run I am considering sports science or business as the right career path for me.”

Mrs Brown commented: “Today’s results are a true testament to the rich academic curriculum and culture of scholarship at Northwood College.  I am grateful to our team of inspirational, forward-thinking, and fiercely dedicated subject specialist teachers, who bring creativity and energy into the classroom every day, igniting intellectual curiosity and encouraging all students to embrace knowledge with a thirst for discovery.”

We are all looking forward to welcoming Year 11 into Senior School in September; they are set to flourish in our vibrant community of intellectual, articulate and socially adept young adults, who we provide with opportunities to grow as individuals, assume leadership roles, take responsible risks, and excel in a dynamic learning environment.
