May Day

This week the girls in Reception learnt about May Day celebrations in the past. We watched maypole dancing and talked about spring turning into summer. We also made some traditional scones which tasted rather delicious.

We have also been watching our living eggs hatch!

There was a great deal of excitement in Reception on Thursday when we discovered nine of our living eggs had hatched overnight. On Wednesday a very tired looking chick emerged from the shell. The girls were surprised to see how wet the feathers were, but how quickly they dried to become ‘ fluffy and cute’. By the next morning this chick had nine other friends to play with. Some of our parents have popped in to see the new additions too!

Next week we are looking forward to seeing the chicks grow and having the chance to hold them.
