Junior Orchestra Day

On the 1 November St Helens College joined us to play four wonderful pieces: Autumn and Winter by Vivaldi, Grand March from Aida by Verdi and Ode to Joy by Beethoven. We practised the pieces throughout the day and got to know the St Helens Collegegirls and boys while having fun playing as a large orchestra. At around 3pm we had a mini concert where our parents got to listen to us.During the day we got to learn about the layout of the orchestra and where the instruments should be set up.  In total we were 50 children and the instrumentsranged from the strings, percussion, woodwind and brass.  We also got helpfrom some very inspiring Year 9 girls and teachers. Having a big group made the musicvery impactful.  It was really an amazing experience and I learnt a lot.Written by Siana (Y6)
