Congratulations Mr. Ahsan

Congratulations to Mr Ahsan, Deputy Head Academic, who recently graduated with a Master’s Degree (MSc) in ‘Learning and Teaching’ from the University of Oxford.

Here are his thoughts on this fantastic achievement:

It was a long journey! Looking to scratch my own academic itch, I applied for the course back in late 2019 and began my studies during the height of the pandemic. Across the next two years I completed several assignments on topics including student perceptions of learning, curriculum design and use of data in education, before ultimately focusing my research on the methods of class groupings and their impact on student performance and motivation. Two lengthy theses later (30,000 words in total!), and my research was finally completed at the beginning of this year.

I would thoroughly recommend postgraduate study to any of our students or my peers. The opportunity to work with other teachers from across the country to develop my practice was hugely beneficial and rewarding, and the expertise and knowledge of the professors on the course was second to none. We are very fortunate at NWC to have a family of teachers who are always keen to expand their knowledge and practice based on the latest educational research, so I am excited about the ways we can use my findings to develop our teaching and learning practices even further.

I want to thank all of the students and teachers who contributed to my research, as well as all those who supported me through all the busy evenings and weekends fixed to a laptop!
