Alumna Raashi Sarkar to Run London Marathon
Since studying at Northwood College, I attended the University of York and have been working at Deloitte for the past 2.5 years, studying toward the Chartered accountancy Qualification. Whilst it has been challenging, to complete 15 exams and learn how to navigate the corporate world, I have gained so much from the process, and would highly recommend it.
The transition from school, to university, and then working life is a big one, but also very exciting and rewarding. My message would be ‘believe in yourself no matter what’. Many people ask me why I have signed up for the London Marathon and questioned if I had thought this one through considering the distance! To which I often laugh and say this is for me, to know that when times get hard, I have the strength and determination to keep going. I believe it is within the most challenging circumstances that we grow.
On the 23rd of April 2023, I will run the London Marathon (42 Km) in aid of Barnardo’s Charity, who support vulnerable children in poverty in the U.K. They also support crisis causes around the world like donating to Ukraine and Turkey.
