SENIOR SCHOOL Year 7 (11+)
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are making some changes to our admissions process this year to help minimise possible disruption to 11+ exam candidates, who might be affected by changing government guidelines or who are unwell or required to be self-isolating at home.
STEP 1 – VISIT US (Virtually at the moment!)
Our Virtual Open events provide an opportunity for you to meet our Head and her team and to hear about why our school is such a special place for young women to prosper.
Please call us on 01923 825446 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
STEP 2 – REGISTRATION
Registration Forms and Registration Fees for all year groups for 2021 entry need to be received by Wednesday 18 November 2020. Details will then be sent of the assessments and interviews which will take place in January 2021.
Assessment for entry at other times during the school year may also be possible if there are spaces.
Closing date for receipt of bursary applications with all supporting documentation Friday 27 November 2020*
STEP 3 – ASSESSMENT
Like many other London independent schools, we have decided to use the ISEB Common Pre-test, which offers the flexibility we require in these difficult times. This is a computer-based test with sections covering Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning, English and Maths, and it takes two and a half hours to complete. It does not require any specific preparation and will be accessible to those who suffered disruption to their learning in Year 5.
Further information for parents about the exam can be found here.
Where to Sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test
Many students will be able to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test at their own junior schools, reducing the need for travel and enabling them to stay within their own ‘bubble’. If the ISEB Pre-test is offered they should sit it at their school at any time on or before 11 December 2020.
For those girls whose schools do not offer the ISEB Pre-test, it will be possible to come to Northwood College for Girls to sit the test on one of the following dates:
Thursday 26 November
Saturday 5 December
It is also possible to sit the ISEB Pre-test at any secondary school for which your daughter is registered, provided that they also use this test. In this case, the test must be sat at any time on or before Saturday 12 December 2020. Please ensure that you still register your daughter with Northwood College for Girls, even if they are sitting the exam at another school, so that we can access your daughter’s scores.
Please note that 2021 applicants for Northwood College for Girls will no longer be required to sit the London 11+ Consortium entrance examination.
Reference from Current School
We will continue to contact a candidate’s current school for a reference. We are very mindful of the disruption many pupils have experienced due to school closures as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and we will be asking the primary and prep schools to outline the educational provision available during the lockdown. We would like to reassure parents that we will be carefully considering how this has impacted each individual girl to ensure that candidates will not be disadvantaged by the different levels of provision the schools were able to provide. The entrance exam is designed to spot academic potential, rather than specific knowledge.
All of our candidates will be invited to attend an interview, so that we can get to know them better and assess whether Northwood College for Girls is the right school for them.
We regret that late applications cannot be accepted.
Thursday 14, Friday 15, Monday 18, Tuesday 19 and Tuesday 26 January 2021
STEP 4 – OFFERS AND ACCEPTANCE
Offer letter will be posted on Thursday 11 February 2021
Acceptances in writing and deposits must reach Northwood College on Noon on Wednesday 3 March 2021
