Year 7 Visit France and Belgium

Overnight bags packed and raring to go, our excellent Y7s lined up bright and early on the Terrace on Thursday 27 June and couldn’t wait to board the 85-seater double-decker coach to Belgium. After passing through French Border Control, where the French customs officers complimented us on the girls’ conduct – every girl greeting them in French – it was straight to Belgium for a delicious visit to a chocolate factory, which was easy to find as the smell of the chocolate was unmissable. Here the girls enjoyed a live demonstration of how the chocolate is made, followed by them making their very own chocolate pizzas adorned with various toppings. If that left some still feeling hungry, we then had a wonderful tour of the world-famous biscuit factory Jules Destrooper where we learnt how their various biscuits are made and then sampled every one of their delicious range. After settling in at our hostel and after dinner, we were all entertained by our amazing French animatrice – Charlotte (who accompanied us for the entire trip). Charlotte organised a quiz and some of our girls asked her some questions in French. It was then straight to bed for some ‘sleep’. After an early buffet breakfast, we were all excited to get to France where we enjoyed shopping at a French hypermarket.

My thanks go to the Y7s for a very memorable trip and to our fantastic members of staff who accompanied and supported. – Mr D Ezekiel
