YEAR 6 GDST MATHS CONFERENCE

Seven enthusiastic NWC girls attended the GDST Maths Conference at the prestigious Mathematical Institute at Oxford University.

The highlight of the event was the keynote speech by Zoe Griffiths, who captivated the audience with her insights into the magic of mathematics. Her engaging presentation explored a variety of fascinating mathematical concepts, illustrating how they intersect with everyday life and inspiring the girls to see the beauty in numbers and patterns.

The atmosphere was absorbing as Zoe encouraged everyone to embrace the wonders of Maths, igniting a deeper passion among the attendees. In addition to the keynote, the girls participated in an exciting Treasure Hunt that challenged them to explore the stunning architecture and intriguing art installations scattered throughout the Institute.

As they navigated through the historic building, they encountered art installations that further developed their knowledge of platonic shapes. This hands-on experience not only reinforced the ideas shared by Zoe, but also deepened the girls’ appreciation for the relationship between mathematics, art, and design.
