UKMT Team Maths Challenge

The day finally came for us four proud Northwood college Girls to head off to the UKMT team maths challenge. The day began with a 20 minute train journey, followed by a ten minute walk to Preston Manor High School. There were warm-up questions for starters. We were full of excitement and laughter, until the challenge began, and then we knew that we had to be serious for the challenge.

The day was full of puzzles and challenges, including a relay race, where we had to run across the room to give your team questions to answer. Half way through the competition, the top five scores were announced, which included NWC. This phenomenon really lifted ours spirits up and made us eager to work harder which lead us to earn sixth place in the challenge. The day was hectic, however it was enjoyable and pushed us to our limits. We had gained many skills, including learning the great importance of teamwork and good communication.
