Success with Personal Finance in Year 9

This year we have given the whole of year 9 the opportunity to learn the life skills of managing money decisions by rolling out the Award in Financial Education to the whole year group.

This has proved very successful as almost all of them have now achieved the Level 2 qualification which equips them for adult life when making important decisions such as savings and investments, working and paying taxes and being savvy consumers when spending their money.

Two thirds of the cohort have achieved a Merit in this recognised award from London Institute of Banking and Finance and this group together with those passing units 1 and 2 now progress to Certificate in Financial Education which we complete in the summer term so that they leave year 9 with the equivalent of half a GCSE qualification.

Watch out Martin Lewis- you may have some very money-wise women joining the labour force soon!
