Success at West London Finals of Young Enterprise Company awards
Two new start-up businesses run by Northwood College sixth formers entered this year’s Young Enterprise competition. ‘Love Your Leftovers’ making and selling cookbooks and urban fashion wear with a social conscience from ‘Snowflake Generation’
Despite lockdown this annual competition was held online at the start of May with each school from across the area submitting a video and Business Plan to describe their start-up company to the judges.
The two Northwood College teams successfully made it through to the prestigious West London finals and ‘Love Your Leftovers’ went onto pick up the Team Journey Award.
On winning the ‘Team Journey’ award ‘Love Your Leftovers’ Managing Director Kritika Sawant commented “Its lovely to be recognised for all the work we put in since starting up our company last October. It has been a real learning experience for all nine of us- I never knew there was so much to consider in running a business, but we are now able to solve problems and work as a team to make decisions.”
Alexa Garcia-Nunez led the other team ‘Snowflake Generation’ who developed a range of fashionable apparel that recognised that many teenagers face many different mental health issues. However, the team demonstrated their belief that this is not a weakness, and that there is strength in our diversity and also in our unification through urban and fashion culture.
One of only seven teams who made it to the Final with determination and perseverance despite all the constraints of working from home post lockdown. They impressed the judges with a very comprehensive Business Report and video explainer.
