Royal Academy of Arts Trip

During my visit to the RA gallery I was constantly drawn into the minds of several artists, specifically when walking through the summer exhibition. The wide variety of pieces meant I was able to connect to various different types of art and never seemed to be without an interest towards anything. I especially admired the Summer Exhibition room with the sculptures in it. This is purely because my interest has been drawn towards sculptures recently as I have been studying human figure in sculptural forms. The use of vivid and powerful colours on some sculptures has really inspired to incorporate some of these techniques when I compose my own sculpture in hope that it will grab the attention of others also.

I would definitely say my favourite part of the trip was visiting Felix Valloton’s exhibition as I felt his pieces really linked to both my Food and Drink and Human Figure sketchbooks, and therefore I was able to collect a large amount of research from his work. I will be creating a double page spread in my Human Figure sketched book to organise all the research and information I have collected for the examiner to see.
