20th Anniversary of Waterstones Children’s Laureate Reading Spaces Competition: book corners designed by students
In the summer term, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Waterstones’ Children’s Laureate, children across the country drew their dream reading corners – and the winners have now been chosen. The 20 Waterstones’ ‘League of Laureates’ asked students to design their dream reading corner. Mrs Annetts submitted the entries for Northwood College for Girls and during the summer holidays, the three winners were announced and Fatema Mithwani (Year 6) was one of the three who won! The current Children’s Laureate, Lauren Child, said ‘This (design) is so carefully considered. Fatema has gone to such effort to explain in picture form how she would create a reading corner. I particularly love that she has set no limits on her imagination and has made sure to put every detail in place. It’s fabulous.’
Congratulations Fatema – the junior library will soon be receiving a new reading corner provided by BookSpace plus some books to go with it.
