Identifying Odd and Even Numbers

In Reception, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. We have been using counters, socks and Numicon pieces to identify if the number is odd or even. If the counters have a partner it is an even number and if they do not have a partner, then the number is odd.

We have been searching for animal footprints at Forest School. We found paws with pads, hoof print, bird tracks and webbed footprints and had to identify the forest animal that each one belonged to. We then collected twigs, leaves, cones and other materials to make a safe habitat for the forest animals to live in.

We have been exploring ice. First, we had to think of different ways to melt an ice cube to retrieve a gem and then we made predictions about water frozen inside a glove to form an ice hand.
