Hands-on Maths lesson

Year 3 have been learning to read scales when measuring mass in grammes and kilogrammes. After a few lessons in class, the girls were counting in 25s, 50s and 100s when weighing items on a set of scales. They also used Balance Scales to investigate how to make 1 kg using smaller weights. Finally, skills were put to the test when the girls weighed the ingredients needed to make Fairy Cakes. Judging by the extremely fluffy cakes and great reviews from family members they must have weighed all their ingredients accurately.
