Combined Symphony Orchestra

I play the violin and I was really excited to be part of this combined orchestra with Nower Hill and Pinner High. I regularly participate in several orchestras, both in school and externally for my borough.

I greatly enjoy being part of different orchestras because it is fun to be part of a community with people who have the same interests as you and to collaborate with others to create music and perform to an audience. I also like meeting new people and socialising with them through music, which is why I try to join as many choirs and orchestras as I can.

The combined symphony orchestra was an exciting experience for both my friends and I because we don’t usually play with such a large amount of people in an orchestra. It was interesting to find out that this orchestra had 60 people taking part!

The experience of rehearsing the pieces in sectionals first before coming together as a whole orchestra to play was amazing because I was able to get to know people from different schools who play the same instrument as me, and learn a bit about them.

My favourite part of the whole day was gathering together as an entire orchestra to play the pieces we had learnt. The concert at the end sounded fantastic and I enjoyed being a part of the final performance. My favourite piece to play was probably Montagues and Capulets by Sergei Prokofiev, but the other pieces sounded great as well.

To conclude, the entire day was highly enjoyable for all of us and I would be happy to do another collaboration with the other schools again.
