Celebrating our best-ever GCSE exam results!
Today’s phenomenal GCSE grades have given Northwood College for Girls GDST a second opportunity to celebrate record-breaking results this month! Reflecting the school’s aspirational ambitions for each student, the most common GCSE grade is grade 9 (above the old A* equivalent) with over half of all grades awarded at grades 9/8.
Head, Rebecca Brown, said: “With over one quarter of our grades at grade 9 and over three quarters at grades 9-7 I am over the moon with today’s results and so very proud of Year 11 and their teachers. This cohort has a particular place in my heart as they were my first Year 7 group when I became Head six years ago. It has been an absolute privilege to watch them grow into the brilliant young adults they are today. Each of them has consistently demonstrated strength of spirit and character, while bringing contagious energy, enthusiasm and positivity to school life.”
The overall average grade was 7.4, with one third of Northwood students achieving an average grade of 8 (A*) or above. Nine students achieved a clean sweep of top grades, with every GCSE awarded at grade 9 or 8.
Mrs Brown added: “I am so grateful to our formidable team of subject specialists, who care deeply about the future of the students that we have the privilege of guiding into adulthood. Working consistently to ignite academic curiosity and a thirst for discovery, our teachers bring energy, expertise and innovation into the classroom every day.”
Subject Highlights:
- Almost 55% of grades were awarded at grades 9-8 across our Maths and English Literature GCSEs with the average grade of 7.5 (A) in Maths. An impressive 93% of the year group also achieved the top possible grade for the rigorous and challenging Additional Maths qualification (A grade).
- Over 50% of grades awarded at grades 9–8 across the Science GCSEs. The average grade for Chemistry students is grade 8 and 40% of this popular subject’s grades were awarded at grade 9.
- History students also rejoiced in outstanding results, with 65% of grades awarded at grade 9 and 88% at grades 9/8.
- Modern Foreign Languages students celebrated exceptional GCSE results, with almost 70% of grades awarded at grades 9–8. 83% of Chinese students achieved grade 9, and 9/8 grades were achieved by 70% of French students and 68% of Spanish students.
- Almost 80% of grades awarded at grades 9-7 across the Arts Department, with 44% of Art grades and 50% of Drama grades awarded at grade 9.
Mrs Brown commented: “Our Year 11 cohort has earned excellent results through consistent effort, resilience and conviction; always thinking confidently and courageously. I look forward to seeing them thrive in our dynamic Sixth Form where they will continue to grow as individuals, take on leadership roles, and develop the skills and attributes required to secure places at their first-choice universities and future board rooms.
Our role is to ensure that every student leaves Northwood ready to take her place in a world she sees as full of opportunity – happy, ambitious and equipped to make a positive difference.”
Anushka achieved ten grade 9s today and said: “I’m really happy with my results and I am so relieved!”
Anushka’s mum added: “These results are beyond our wildest dreams and we’re very thankful to all of Anushka’s teachers for all their work and support.”
Nylah acheived nine grade 9s and one grade 8 today and said: “I’m so happy. I’ve received some unexpected grades today so am really pleased to see the hard work paid off. Thank you everyone at Northwood College.”
Nylah’s mum added: “I am super proud of her. Her commitment has been amazing and she deserves the scores she has achieved today and we look forward to continuing her NWC journey. A big thank you to all her teachers.”
Krisha achieved eight grade 9s and two grade 8s and said: “I am absolutely stunned and feeling so happy with my results today! I want to thank all my teachers for giving me so many resources and so many hours of revision support. My future aim is to become an investment banker.”
Krisha’s mum added: “I want to thank all the NWC staff for their hard work. I am so delighted!”.
Ximena achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7 and said: “I am very happy with my results and would like to thank all my teachers for their support.”
Ximena’s parents added: “I would also like to thank all of the teachers as Ximena has enjoyed year after year at NWC.”
Diya achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7 and said: “I’m so happy that all the hard work and stress has paid off! Thank you to all the staff for all their help, I have been at Northwood College since Year 5 and I am so grateful to everyone.”
Kylah who achieved nine Grade 9s and one Grade 8 said: “I am shocked by my results but really happy and I would like to thank all my teachers for their support and hard work”.
Sahaanna achieved five Grade 9s and four Grade 8s and said: “I am so shocked that I have done so well but I am really happy and I want to thank all my teachers. We all get so much support here at NWC!
Since I took my mocks my teachers have helped boost my confidence so much through to the real thing.”
Sahaanna’s parents added: “Both our girls started here in Nursery and our older daughter received her A-level results last week, and today Sahaanna has done really well too. Choosing Northwood College was the best decision we ever made.”
Lola achieved six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and one Grade 6 and said: “I am really happy and want to thank my mum and dad and all my teachers.”
Lola’s mum added: “I am so relieved and so proud. Thank you to everyone at NWC for their support.”
Lola’s dad added: “I am very proud and not at all surprised, I knew she would deliver and was not worried at all. Thank you to all her brilliant teachers.”
Diya achieved eight Grade 9s and two Grade 8s and said: “I am over the moon and am thankful for all the fantastic teachers and their support.”
Diya’s parents added: “Diya has done amazingly well and has surpassed all expectations. We are so thankful for the supportive environment here at Northwood College.”
Karissa achieved three Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and two Grade 6s and said: “I am over the moon with my results today so I’d like to say a big thanks to my teachers.

Karissa’s parents added: “We are ecstatic! And we would like to reserve a special thanks for the English department. Thank you NWC.”
Disha achieved three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and two Grade 7s and said: “I am really happy at the moment”
Disha’s dad added: “We are all so relieved with these results and so happy to see the culmination of all Disha’s hard work.”
Anvi achieved two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and four Grade 7s and said: “I’m feeling happy and I am so relieved that all my hard work has paid off.
I know my Dad would be so happy for me too if he was here.”
Anvi’s mum added: “Beginning with the Head, Mrs Brown, everybody at Northwood College has supported Anvi throughout her journey.”
