University and After

We are well aware that decisions about future Higher Education courses and careers are of the utmost importance at this stage in your life.

Bearing this in mind, we have a wide-ranging and comprehensive programme of careers advice and work hard to:

  • deliver a progressive programme of careers related activities in Years 7-13 that help girls to understand themselves and the influences on them
  • support our pastoral and Thinking Skills programmes in the development of lifelong learning and evaluation skills
  • help our girls to develop the knowledge and skills they need to make successful choices, along with the ability to use these to manage transitions in learning, at school or when moving into Higher Education or work
  • encourage girls to investigate opportunities in learning and work by using a range of information sources and choosing those most relevant to their personal needs. The well-stocked and up-to-date Careers Library allows girls to access software such as Kudos and Higher Ideas, as well as a full range of books, magazines, university prospectuses and careers information leaflets.
  • ensure that girls have knowledge and understanding of the world of work by encouraging participation in work related activities such as Work Experience, Business Enterprise Days, Careers Fairs and talks given by representatives from a wide range of career areas

Our full-time Head of Careers co-ordinates the Careers Education and Guidance programmes across the school, working closely with tutors and Heads of Year and conducting group sessions and individual interviews with students, providing detailed assistance with UCAS applications, is provided by the Head of Careers and tutors.

Our advice and support continues throughout the university applications cycle, as universities make their offers to you and you make your decisions about which offers to keep.

In 2021 our Sixth Form students have gone on to study a wide range of degree courses. The majority of our girls gained places at Russell Group universities, including Oxford, Durham, Warwick and King’s College London.

You can see a full list of our leavers’ destinations here.

Thank you very much for your excellent work with the girls this year
