Following the success of the German Speed-Meet activity with Merchant Taylors’ School last month, the Year 9 girls studying French were just as excited to have a French Activity Lunch with their counterparts from Merchant Taylors’ on Thursday.

In total thirty-three girls and thirty-three boys paired up with the sole purpose of speaking French for the whole of their lunchtime. The event was a roaring success and both boys and girls took part most enthusiastically in the activities which included finding out about their partner’s hobbies, interests and future plans in French; a quiz about France and a fun board game to practise the future tense.

The event reinforced some of the skills and habits of mind we are trying to instil, including taking a risk, communication, thinking collaboratively and having the confidence to use a foreign language outside the classroom.
