Whole School

On Wednesday 17th January, girls from Years 11, 12 and 13 who are members of GEMSoc (Gender Equality Matters Society) hosted a conference, with over 40 students attending from Northwood High School, St Helen’s, Merchant Taylors’ School and The John Lyon School.

During the course of the evening we covered topics ranging from abortion to transgender rights, discussing whether there is a need for gender in today’s society.

The students had time to talk amongst themselves in small groups before the discussion was opened up to the whole conference.

It was a very successful evening and provided an opportunity to hear a variety of different points of view and to see opinions change throughout the course of the evening.
