Year 7 River Chess trip
On Thursday 21 May, Year 7 went on a field trip on the River Chess in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire to investigate how river variables such as width, depth and velocity change as we travel downstream.
A little weary yet also excited following the completion of their examinations, the Year 7s worked with purpose and increasing speed and confidence as we collected more data and repeated the data collection techniques.
The weather was excellent and the girls evidently enjoyed the real world ‘hands on’ learning which reinforced and developed their understanding of river landforms and processes studied previously in class.
Several were enjoying their data collection and use of the equipment so much that they were disappointed to learn that we had to leave to make it back to school on time!
I would like to thank Mrs Spicer and Miss Shah for accompanying this most worthwhile trip.
