Valedictory Event for Sixth Form Leavers
Friday 12 May marked the last day at Northwood College for Girls for Year 13, a momentous occasion for parents, teachers and students alike.
This year, we decided to celebrate the Year 13 students’ significant contributions to the school, their personal achievements whilst here and the exciting directions they will be taking once they leave us, in a Valedictory afternoon.
The event was attended by Year 10, Year 12, staff, governors, parents and of course the Year 13 guests of honour, and began with a formal service of celebration in the Assembly Hall. Guests heard speeches from Ms Jackman, Miss Pain, Mrs Brown and Head Girl, Mala Pandit, before tutors were asked to introduce the students in their forms and each member of the year group walked across the stage to receive the congratulation of the school.
Year 13 then led us to the PAC where afternoon tea was served and staff, students and guests reminisced about past NWC experiences and discussed next steps. The students treated us to a video they had produced including their NWC ‘best bits’, moving all members of the audience to laughter and tears.
The day also comprised of a special form time with their peers in Year 12, speeches read out by tutors about their form groups and a celebration lunch chosen by the girls themselves. In all, it was a truly fitting way to mark the end of an era and to send off our wonderful young women into the world of higher education and work. We now wish Year 13 all the very best in their public exams and look forward to hearing of their successes in August.
