Sophia and Siena Run Senior School for the Day!

Whole School

Northwood College for Girls was under the command of two junior school pupils last week, as sisters Siena (age six) and Sofia Shah (age nine) won a prize to ‘run school’ for the day.

This much sought after opportunity was awarded to the girls, following their win at the NCPA raffle.

They began the day by meeting with the Senior Management Team to discuss how the school could be improved. The girls came prepared with brilliant ideas (several of which involved the installation of a zip wire!), and their creative juices were certainly flowing once a special breakfast of hot chocolate and pain au chocolat was served. Suitably refreshed, they went onto lead Senior School Assembly and the whole School was informed that they were to be the new Headmistresses for the day.

As is the duty of Senior Managers, their day crammed in lots of important meetings. The Director of Finance was treated to their thoughts about how the school should spend its money, and they advised each of our Deputy Heads about what makes a happy and successful pupil.

The rest of their day included assisting with GCSE Sports and Cookery lessons, and a special ‘behind the scenes’ tour where they discovered parts of the school they never knew existed (secret gardens, plant rooms and hidden passages). At lunchtime, they invited two of their friends to join them in the Headmistresses’ office for their favourite meal of macaroni cheese and syrup sponge pudding!

Asked how they had found the day, Siena commented ‘It was Awesome! I loved every bit of it!” Sofia agreed, adding that she thought “the school is in excellent running order.”  Miss Pain, remarked: “I thoroughly enjoyed working for the girls during their eventful day. If I ever went on holiday in term-time, I would know who to appoint!!”
