Sporting Success in October!
GDST Junior Swimming Rally
Nine girls from Junior School competed in the GDST Swimming Rally at Northampton High School in October. The girls competed against sixteen other Trust schools and the standard of swimming was extremely high.
Our girls successfully managed to represent our school in all the swimming events; however, a special mention must go to Francesca Hawes, Riya Kondru and Ruhi Visaria for achieving standard times, scoring them additional points during the event. Congratulations girls!
The girls’ behaviour and sportsmanship were a credit to Northwood College and valuable racing experience was gained by all. Year 12 Students, Ashley Hey and Chandrika Bali, were Team Managers for the day and they did an excellent job organising and motivating the girls - thank you!
Year 6 Compete in the Orley Farm Netball Tournament
The Year 5 and 6 netball teams competed in the Orley Farm Netball Tournament last month, with our Year 6 team finishing fifth out of ten local schools. The player of the match was Kiera Patel who scored some fabulous goals under pressure. Both teams played extremely well, bonded fantastically as teams and gained valuable match experience. Well done to all the girls who played in the tournament.
Year 10 Take Part in GDST Netball Tournament
On Tuesday 4 October, our Year 10 netball team travelled to Northampton High School to compete in the annual GDST netball tournament. It was a long and tiring day, with a few injuries on the way, but we battled on and finished seventh in our pool. Unfortunately this was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals, however every individual played her heart out.
Thank you to Mrs Rees for being such a supportive netball coach since Year 7.
The team consisted of:
GK: Emily Gee; GD: Shreya Malhotra; WD: Janam Vadgama; C: Dominique Olaleye; WA: Sushma Nepal; GA: Alessandra Douglas; GS: Bhavini Shah.
Player of the tournament: Dominique Olaleye

Success for Year 10 Netball in Hillingdon Borough Tournament
On Thursday 6 October, the Year 10 Netball A Team played in the Hillingdon Borough Tournament. After a successful first round, the girls played their way to the semi-finals where they beat Vyners School convincingly to go through to the finals. Despite their best efforts and an outstanding come back in the second half of the match, they narrowly lost to St Helen’s and finished as runners up in the tournament.
Congratulations for some excellent play and bringing back the silver medal; well done girls.
Player of the tournament was Bhavini Shah.

… And Also for the Sixth Form!
On Wednesday 12 October, the Sixth Form A and B teams competed in the U19 Hillingdon Borough Netball Tournament. The B team consisted of a mixture of experienced netball players and girls who have played very little competitive netball. The girls worked well as a team and showed excellent determination against some very strong opposition.
The A team lost a hard fought game against St Helen’s then went on to beat Queensmead 13-7 and Northwood College B Team 26-2. They drew 8-8 with Vyners in a very tense game, finishing as runners up in the tournament. Congratulations to both teams!
