Year 3 learn about Muslim Birth Rites
As part of the RS curriculum, the girls in Year 3 have been learning about the special ceremonies that take place to welcome a baby into a particular faith. This week, the children found out about Muslim birth rites. They were very fortunate to have Mrs Moledina, a Reception parent, demonstrate how a baby is welcomed and received as a Muslim.
A practical session gave the girls the opportunity to actively practice the rituals used. They washed and dressed the babies (dolls!) and had great fun in the process. The girls were very keen to say what their own names meant and who had named them.
We would really like to thank Mrs Moledina for her time and enthusiasm in preparing such a worthwhile experience for the girls.
