Junior School Eco Day
Fun, lots of activities and learning is probably the best way to summarise the Junior School Eco Day on Wednesday 27 April!
The theme this year was ‘Waste Not, Want Not’ and girls from Nursery through to Year 6 all participated.
The event began with an assembly in which Mrs Annetts outlined the activities for the day and briefly explained about the Green Flag Award which the school will be applying for later this term.
Activities included an eco ‘snap’ card game, eco quizzes, life cycle of an apple, upcycling, book/toy ‘swap’, colour in Eco Ted, sorting items for recycling, designing recycling posters, junk modelling and a talk by Dean Pearce (Re-Food) about food waste and how the school’s food waste is recycled to make energy.
The day was enjoyable as well as informative, as the photos show!
A huge thank you to all Junior school staff and girls (and parents for collecting recycling items for girls to bring into school) for making the day a big success! We have already started to plan next year’s Eco Day! - Mrs Annetts, Eco Co-ordinator
