MAGIS Afternoon

Junior School

Years 1 and 2 had a wonderful MAGIS afternoon on Tuesday 29 September.

MAGIS is Latin for something greater, so we try to explore something outside the curriculum.  This time we learnt about Greece, Miss Kalogirou’s country of origin.  She put together a wonderful powerpoint showing where Greece sits on the map; the national flag; Athens today and Athens in Ancient Greece and teaching us all to say ‘My name is …’ in Greek!

We then divided into groups for four activities.  The girls made olive wreaths for the Ancient Olympians, coloured pictures of Ancient Greek gods and goddesses, made their own Greek flags and acted out different fables of Aesop.

It was a wonderful afternoon, inspiring the girls to learn more and enhancing their general knowledge.
