On Thursday 8 October we will celebrate our annual Harvest Festival with special assemblies and a display of all the food that we collect for charity.
For the past few years we have donated our Harvest goods to the Watford New Hope Trust, a local charity that cares for the homeless. Last year we were one of the most generous donors of the many schools and churches that support them; the carrier bags full of food and toiletries that you so kindly donated helped them to care for the homeless for many months!
This year the New Hope Trust is unable to accept so many donations and have suggested that we donate instead to the Watford Food Bank which has a similar role in supporting the homeless and needy. The charity have requested non-perishable goods such as pasta and rice, tinned foods, tea and coffee, sugar, biscuits etc., as well as toiletries, including soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, or shower gel.
If you wish to support our Harvest appeal, please give your gifts to your daughter to bring into school from Monday 28 September. Ideally, we would like to receive all gifts by Wednesday 7 October as we shall be setting up the display in the Assembly Hall during the Tuesday afternoon, in readiness for the Harvest assemblies: thanks to the huge generosity of our girls and their parents, this normally takes some time!
We will, of course, be delighted to receive goods on the morning of 8 October as well, although there may not be time to add them to the display.
Many thanks in advance,
Mrs Christina Weeks
