Year 6 take part in GDST’s General Knowledge Quiz
On Friday 12 June, a team of Year 6 girls participated in the GDST General Knowledge Quiz Finals, hosted at Bromley High School.
It was an early start for us as we travelled to Victoria by train and then on to Bickley station, where we were collected by Bromley’s mini-bus.
The quiz consisted of a picture round followed by individual, team and a quick fire buzzer round. To add to the excitement of the quiz itself, the girls held their nerves and coped magnificently under the added pressure of having a team of cameramen film them! The heats were tough and the results nail-biting with our girls, Priyana Malde and Chloe Cowan (Year 6), Leyla Meghjee (Year 6) and Nicole Sowunmi (Year 6), doing exceptionally well to win two out of their three rounds but narrowly missing a chance to qualify for the grand finale. Wimbledon were the eventual champions, taking the cup from last year’s winners, Kensington Prep.
‘Bromley was an amazing experience. It was fun to compare our school to theirs and look at their campus. Doing the “fingers on buzzers” was my favourite activity because it was so thrilling!’ - Chloe Cowan ‘We were all really excited as it was the first time Northwood College for Girls had gone to the GDST Quiz. It was really fun and we all enjoyed using our buzzers. It was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again.’ - Layla Meghjee
