At GCSE and A Level, GDST pupils outperform not just the general population of schools, but specifically those from the rest of the independent school sector and in recent years almost 80% of GDST students going on to university did so at Russell Group universities such as Oxford and Cambridge.

WHAT IS THE GDST?

The UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, educating nearly 20,000 students between the ages of three and eighteen (around 8% of all girls at UK independent schools) and employing over 3,500 staff.

As a charity that owns and runs a network of 23 schools and two academies in England and Wales, it is the largest single educator of girls in the UK and reinvests all its income in these schools.

Founded in 1872, the GDST has a long history of pioneering innovation in girls’ education.

HOW DOES THE GDST WORK?

Each of the GDST schools and academies is different but, like a family, each shares some of its DNA with the others. Running through all GDST schools and academies is the belief that each girl is unique, and that each of them needs to be encouraged and channelled in her own way.
