Lower School (Years 7 - 9)
At KS3 all pupils have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and healthy eating, so that they have the knowledge to make informed decisions about food choice. The girls learn about the provenance of food and the functions of ingredients in dishes. Through practical work pupils develop life skills.
The girls use a variety of techniques and work with different ingredients, to cook a repertoire of mainly savoury dishes. Pupils have the opportunity to use a wide range of equipment, and demonstrate a clear understanding of the relevant health and safety factors. Independent learning is encouraged.
Pupils have the opportunity to develop organisational and research skills, and are encouraged to be creative and develop evaluation skills.
Weekly Food clubs are offered to all year groups and prove to be extremely popular.
Thank you very much for your excellent work with the girls this year.
